What is Fawtara?

Fawtara is the Oman Tax Authority's (OTA) national electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) programme. It requires VAT-registered businesses to issue structured e-invoices, with mandatory compliance starting in phases from August 2026.

When does e-invoicing become mandatory in Oman?

The Oman Tax Authority is rolling out e-invoicing in phases: large taxpayers from August 2026, a second wave in February 2027, and all remaining VAT-registered businesses by August 2027.

What is the VAT rate in Oman?

Oman applies a standard VAT rate of 5%, in line with the GCC Unified VAT Agreement. Every VAT-registered business must issue a valid tax invoice for taxable supplies

What is the corporate tax rate in Oman?

Oman's standard corporate tax rate is 15%, with a reduced 3% rate available for qualifying small and medium enterprises.
